Indenya History

EXQUISITE LACQUER-BASED PRINTING PATTERNS

The decorative parts of samurai armor needed to be light but also soft and solid at the same time; thus, lacquered deer-leather from INDEN-YA was used. Although cow leather has mostly taken over, the softness, flexibility, and sturdiness of deer skin are still highly appreciated due to its soft touch and longevity. Since 1582, it has become a big name in the Japanese craft and fashion industry. With over four centuries of history, this unique company is still run by the same family, the craftsmen of INDENYA being highly-skilled and have a keen eye for detail during inspection.

Our main goal is a wish to improve the awareness of INDEN-YA and help show the allure of its designs.
